textile and fashion artist, knitwear designer, curious spirit

I call myself a creative inventor who is deeply interested in the textile and fashion world. Curiosity is my main inspiration source. Curiosity makes me travel, live in foreign countries and learn from people worldwide. This translates to my creation - every project helps me to grow and grasp for new ways of making. Mixing digital technologies and handicraft techniques express the importance of hand work in this modern era. Curiosity and optimism go hand in hand which show in colours and playfulness in my work.
After finishing my BA degree in Technical Design and Technology of Apparel, I got the technical know-how on constructing and producing garments. Feeling the urge to go deeper into the material making and the conceptual side of design, I continued my MA degree in Textile Design.

During the university studies, I gained international study experiences in Borås, Sweden and Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, I interned in an Italian fashion studio Francesca Castellano in Berlin, Germany and a knitting studio Knitwear Lab in Almere, the Netherlands. Learning from professionals from all around the world influenced me to highlight the value in making things by hand with a touch of innovation and sustainability. All the experiences led me to start my own knitwear brand Anu Sirkas where original artworks translate to wearable knits.
