MOVE
2020
Curiosity, openness, optimism, independence, respect
These keywords have sent me in recent years, encouraged me to move abroad and adopt new local ways of life. By interweaving the experiences at home and abroad, I take over the experienced feelings and seen motives and translate them into clothes.
o Estonia (Jõelähtme) - childhood, sense of security, folklore
o Sweden (Borås) - crispness, friendships, self-awareness
o Thailand (Bangkok) - variegation, noise, loneliness
o Germany (Berlin) - exhaustion, excitement, tolerance
o the Netherlands (Almere) - art classics, textile creation, vocation
MOVE summarizes my vivid study period in five countries. Machine knitting and punch needle embroidery were used to create meaningful textiles that are rich in craftsmanship.
The jacket has the pattern of my childhood home oak tree combined with Bangkok skyscrapers. The apron shows the borders of five homes. The jumpsuit reflects Estonian mushroom and Dutch tulip harvesting. The sweater’s masquerade of colors and textures represents Thai and German everyday life. The blouse is embroidered with a satellite image of my childhood home. The geometrical and floral pattern of the dress is inspired by Dutch art classics. Light gray knits represent the harsh winters of Sweden and Estonia.
