The Goat Jacket is the result of a group business project that documents the process of creating a new company and its first product. The objective and conditions were to identify a gap in the artist fashion industry and make it more accessible. Our featured artist is Franz Novotny, a talented Swedish DJ and singer, for whom we designed a stage outfit.
Novotny's stage style closely aligns with his everyday attire. Thus, we crafted a casual jacket with unique details. His style is casually comfortable, always avoiding the usual black palette seen in the normal Swedish design scene. He prefers earth-like natural colours, and his affection for crazy printed trousers is evident in the photos. Given the heat under the spotlights of a club, breathable materials were chosen.
The jacket is reversible, allowing for various outfit combinations. The goat print is a central element in the design, inspired by a humorous story involving the artist and the animal. The goat print is scattered across the black viscose fabric, with an extra-large version on the back on both sides. On the green cotton fabric, the goat print is not visible under normal circumstances, but it comes alive under flashlights due to reflective dye. The metallic-knitted alloys hood is attached with buttons and is removable. The hood adds a touch of uniqueness and a distinctive silhouette that complements Novotny's personality. The hood's colour is copper-gold, and its special shade glows differently from various angles.
I took charge of designing the jacket alongside Wendy Chou and the artist himself. I created the print, while Wendy and I collaborated on constructing and sewing the jacket.
